

1. Premise
1.1 AISR (Aziende Italiane Stampaggio Rotazionale, Italian Companies Rotational Moulding) as part of our promotion of the technology and potential of rotational moulding in the world of design, is launching the fourth edition of the ideas competition, ROTATIONAL DESIGN 2008.
2. Project theme
2.1 The ROTATIONAL DESIGN competition has the following theme:
ROTATIONAL MOULDING AND WATER
designing an object in relationship with water, which uses a significant quantity of rotomoulded plastic components.
3. Product types
3.1 The object could be for domestic or urban use, public or private, for work or fun; for example:
- bathroom furniture
- nautical furniture
- nautical accessories
- mini swimming pool
- toys with water
- tanks
- kayaks
- water containers for indoor uses
- urban furnitures for ports, beaches, swimming pools, etc
3.2 In addition the designer is free to choose other product types not listed above.
4. Design criteria
4.1 Manufacture of the object must be using rotational moulding either wholly or to a significant extent.
4.2 A variety of materials (e.g. plastic, wood, metal, glass) may be used together with the rotationally moulded parts.
5. Presentation
5.1 The designer has complete freedom to present his/her project in the way he/she considers best (drawings, sketches, computer files, models, etc.).
5.2 Each project must be contain the following data:
- complete name of the author - complete address - title and brief description
5.3 Each project must be sent by e-mail with one of the following formats: (jpeg, tiff or pdf) with size cm 21 x 29,7 (A4 format) horizontal
6. Deadline
6.1 Projects must be submitted by e-mail to info@rotationaldesign.it by and not after 30th June 2008.
7. Prizes
7.1 The author of winning project will receive a prize of Euro 1,500.
7.2 The winning project will be announced by the judges’ panel on 9 September 2008 during the design exhibition scheduled at the prestigious Waterfront Centre in Belfast - UK.
7.3 AISR will promptly contact the author of the winning project and award the prize.
7.4 Projects submitted for the competition will be published on the websites www.rotationaldesign.it and www.rotationaldesign.org.
8. Judges’ panel
8.1 The panel that will judge the projects submitted will be made up of:
- Piero Persico, president of AISR
- Oreste Accornero, vice-president of AISR
- Representatives of AISR member companies
- Teaching staff from the design colleges ISAD e SPD of Milan.
